Porto is easily accessible from major European and international cities, offering convenient travel options by air, rail, and road.
By Air
Porto is served by Francisco Sá Carneiro International Airport (OPO), located just 11 km from the city center and the conference venue (FEUP).
The airport offers:
- Direct flights from major European hubs (e.g., Paris, Frankfurt, Madrid, London, Amsterdam),
- Intercontinental connections via Lisbon, Madrid, Frankfurt, or Paris,
- Service by major airlines including TAP Air Portugal, Lufthansa, KLM, Air France, Iberia, easyJet, and Ryanair.
From the airport:
- The Metro Line E (Purple Line) connects the airport directly to the city center and the university area (FEUP) in about 30–35 minutes through the Line D (Yellow Line).
- Taxis and ride-sharing services (Uber, Bolt) are readily available and take approximately 20–25 minutes to reach FEUP or downtown Porto.
By Train
Porto has two main train stations:
- Campanhã Station: Main hub for long-distance and high-speed trains (e.g., from Lisbon, Coimbra, Braga, and international trains via Spain).
- São Bento Station: Located in the city center, known for its iconic azulejos (tile murals), with convenient local connections.
High-speed Alfa Pendular and Intercidades trains from Lisbon reach Porto in about 2.5–3 hours.
By Car
Porto is well connected by Portugal’s highway network:
- From Lisbon: ~3 hours via A1 motorway.
- From Galicia (Spain): ~2 hours from Vigo via A3.
By Bus
Several long-distance and international bus companies operate in Porto, including Rede Expressos, FlixBus, and ALSA, offering affordable and comfortable travel across Portugal and from Spain, France, and Germany.
